- This position is posted as Assistant Clinical Manager, which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Assistant Manager, Preventive Health.
About the Department/College
Campus Health serves as an integrated care clinic, providing services including: comprehensive primary medical care, lab services, immunizations, same-day appointments for urgent concerns, psychiatric services, behavioral health, physical therapy, and counseling services.
About the Position
Provides day-to-day leadership of Medical Assistant staff at Campus Health Services. Requires clinical expertise with operational leadership to ensure efficient workflows, high-quality patient care, and compliance with healthcare standards. Possesses knowledge and understanding of clinic operations to streamline patient flow, reduce wait times, and improve efficiency. Responsible for supervising the maintenance of immunization records to guarantee adherence to NAU's policies.
Responsibilities Include
40% - Supervision of Medical Assistants
- Responsible for the supervision of medical assistant staff, to include hiring, training, delegating assignments, monitoring performance, taking corrective actions, and setting staff goals.
- Manages and tracks key tasks, workloads, and assignments across the unit/department on a daily basis.
- Manages MA staff and promotes optimal clinic flow and coordination/continuity of care.
25% - Planning and Coordinating
- Applies planning, organizing, coordinating, and facilitating skills; applies baseline knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Leads, develops, and participates in continuous quality improvement activities within MA department, and CHS-wide.
20% - Immunization Program
- Oversees and coordinates assigned preventive health programs, to include immunization program oversight.
- Tracking of Immunization requirements and compliance, that fulfill the requirements of the university.
- Coordinates miscellaneous clinics as needed.
10% - Miscellaneous
- Assists MA staff in supporting medical providers as needed, in clinic and urgent care. Participates in task forces, committees, workgroups, etc.as assigned.
5% - Other
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
- 1 year of management or supervisory experience.
- 1 years of relevant experience.
- Medical Assistant (MA), Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or other healthcare worker with approved certification/licensure.
- Current BLS certification. *(BLS certification must be obtained through a live, interactive training program, preferably through the American Heart Association).
*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in relevant field.
- 3 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge of current physical health, mental health, alcohol and drug use, and social issues on university campuses.
- Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Emergency Preparedness policies and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of documenting services provided in an electronic medical record system.
- Knowledge of patient rights, patient consent, confidentiality and Health Insurance Portability and
- Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Skills
- Skill in prioritizing and completing multiple tasks of varying complexity and urgency in a timely and efficient manner.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Compensation
Budgeted salary is $67,714. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
Pre-Employment Check
Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Also, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report
Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
