Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is spread across a vast geographical area and centred across two hospitals based in Tauranga and Whakatne.  We serve a population of approximately 259,000 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatne, Kawerau and ptiki.  Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is one of the Bay of Plenty’s largest employers with over 4000 staff.

We currently have two very rare opportunities for Consultant Psychiatrists to join our team in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

We are excited to offer:

  • A well-established group of peers for you to join.
  • General Adult Inpatient and outpatient services, Psychogeriatrics, Consult Liaison, Child and Adolescent, Drug and Alcohol and Maternal Mental Health services.
  • We are a teaching hospital with Psychiatric Registrars Training through the Upper Central North Island (UCNI) training scheme.
  • Opportunities for research and teaching roles through our clinical campus and close links with Auckland University.
  • Opportunities for involvement in service development and clinical leadership.

We are seeking individuals that are:

  • Vocationally Registered Psychiatrists with The Medical Council of NZ or are eligible for this.
  • Fellowship with the RANZCP or the equivalent is essential.
  • A desire to work collaboratively to improve the outcomes for our community, while supporting and educating others to do so too.
