Company Overview
VIPO has been the leading provider of prosthetics and orthotics to the southern San Joaquin Valley since 1982. VIPOalso has a satellite office in Santa Clarita, CA. Our mission is to provide the best possible service to our patients, enabling them to live the most comfortable and productive lives possible. Our clinical staff includes four CPOs, two CFms, and an NCOPE resident. Four expert fabrication technicians and dedicated admin staff complete the VIPO team.
The home office is located in Bakersfield, California... a hundred miles north of Los Angeles, and an easy drive to L.A., the coast, the mountains, and San Francisco's Bay area. Wide open spaces, surrounded by mountains on three sides, away from the traffic and stress of the big cities, a "small town" feel, and low cost-of-living all help to make Bakersfield a great place to live.
Company History
VIPO was established in 1982 by Barry Townsend, CPO as a one-man O&P practice in his home town of Bakersfield, California. Within ten years he had established a fully staffed 8,000 square foot home office plus satellite offices in Lancaster and Newhall, each about 100 miles distant.
In 2008 Barry handed over reigns of the company to his son, Trevor Townsend, CPO and long-time VIPO practitioner, James Bernardino, CPO. Trevor and Jim now own the company and continue in the tradition of patient-focused care, provision of top quality service and devices, and service to the community.
VIPO remains cutting edge, with its ABC-certified practitioners receiving continuing training in the newest technologies and also in its practice management, having converted to an electronic medical records-office management system (OPIE). VIPO is a learning organization. Its offices continue to look for ways to improve service, quality of care, and practice management.
