- Lead Ophthalmic Technician
Description
As the Lead Ophthalmic Technician at PVECS you will be responsible for patient care and interaction, proper documentation, testing, and the general success of the clinic flow, procedure and surgical coordination, and oversight of 1 to 2 other technicians. This position is ideal for someone seeking a self-motivated and leadership role in a small practice setting.
- Full work-ups and appropriate documentation including detailed history, visual acuity, confrontation fields, pupillary exam, and instillation of drops
- Perform tests/measurements as directed by the physician, including OCT, Visual Fields, Fundus Photography, Topography, and Optical Biometry
- Provide direct patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring a comfortable experience during examinations
- Perform prescription verification and maintain patient records
- Instruct patients concerning eye care and contact lens handling
- Handle and triage patient calls in conjunction with front office staffing
- Assist with surgical preparations, patient education, and scheduling
- Assist in equipment maintenance and clinical inventory and stocking
- Oversee clinical and surgical flow
- Train and mentor team members on medical office protocols, ophthalmic procedures, and proper use of medical equipment

Requirements
- Proven experience as an ophthalmic technician or in a similar clinical role within ophthalmology or optometry settings
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ophthalmic diagnostic procedures, and anatomy related to eye health
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, medical records management, and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to provide compassionate care in diverse settings including pediatrics when applicable
- Ability to lead a team effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinic environment
